Greater Kruger Area & Kruger National Park
Named after Paul Kruger, this is the largest national park in South Africa, spanning the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga. Kruger National Park is renowned for unforgettable encounters with the Big Five (as well as the “Small Five” and even the “Ugly Five”) and its breathtaking landscapes shaped by a variety of biomes.
The Greater Kruger Area is home to many private game reserves that share open borders with Kruger National Park, allowing wildlife to roam freely. Another highlight is the scenic Panorama Route, featuring the Three Rondavels and Bourke’s Luck Potholes.
Vilanculos
Vilanculos is a small coastal town in Mozambique, known for its beautiful shallow-water beaches, fresh-caught fish, and deliciously prepared seafood, as well as the vibrant market stalls found in the local markets. The people of Vilanculos are always welcoming and friendly, warmly sharing their hospitality with international visitors.
Just offshore lies the Bazaruto Archipelago, a true paradise of remote sandy beaches and an extraordinary underwater world. With a bit of luck, you may even encounter a dugong.
Inhambane
Alongside Vilanculos, Inhambane is one of the most important beach and seaside destinations for both national and international visitors. Its beaches are lined with dunes and are perfect for long, relaxing walks along the shore.
In the main areas of Tofo and Barra, you’ll find lively bars and restaurants, while further south the beaches become quiet and secluded, offering a peaceful escape.
Day 1 – Arrival in Hoedspruit
Arrival at Hoedspruit Provincial Airport / Meet & greet and briefing with the local guide from Chilombo Safaris / Transfer to a private game reserve in the Greater Kruger Area / Time to refresh and recover from the long journey at the lodge / Dinner in a traditional boma

Day 2 – Greater Kruger Area (Private Game Reserve)
Early morning game drive in the private reserve / Relax by the pool / Track reading at the lodge / Sundowner game drive in the private reserve / Dinner in a traditional boma
Day 3 – Greater Kruger Area (Panorama Route)
Scenic drive along the Panorama Route to the Three Rondavels and Bourke’s Luck Potholes / Lunch in Graskop with a spectacular view / Dinner in a traditional boma
Optional activities: Early morning or sundowner game drive in the private reserve
Days 4–5 – Kruger National Park
Game drives in Kruger National Park / Overnight stays in 2–3 different rustic SANParks rest camps
Optional activity: Night game drives organized by SANParks
Day 6 – Xai-Xai
Border crossing into Mozambique / Game drive through Limpopo National Park / Overnight stay in Xai-Xai at a resort overlooking the dunes and the ocean / Fish and seafood dinner
Days 7–9 – Vilanculos
Scenic drive from Xai-Xai to Vilanculos / Beach days and relaxation in Vilanculos / Excursion to the Bazaruto Archipelago / Sundowner on the Dunas Vermelhas
Optional activities: Diving at one of the dive centres in Vilanculos, dhow safaris, canoe trips, kite surfing
Days 9–13 – Inhambane (Ngumula)
Scenic drive from Vilanculos to Inhambane / Accommodation in a remote beachfront lodge in Ngumula / Excursions to Tofo and Barra / Trip to Pansy Island / Endless sandy beaches for walking, jogging, or fishing
Optional activity: Diving
Day 14 – Maputo
Scenic drive from Inhambane to Maputo / Drop-off at Maputo Airport the following day for your onward or return journey
Trip Extension
An extension of the trip north to Johannesburg or along the coast via Kosi Bay, St Lucia, and Durban is available on request.
