Botswana's Highlights
Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta is the world’s largest inland delta and disappears entirely into the central Kalahari Desert. This unique feature has earned it UNESCO World Heritage status. Thanks to its rich flora and fauna, the delta is one of Africa’s premier safari destinations, offering both water-based and land-based wildlife experiences.
A safari along one of the channels of the Okavango River is a truly unique experience. In a traditional mokoro canoe, you glide peacefully through hundreds of papyrus-lined waterways, forming a vast network of lagoons and islands.
Khwai Concession
The Khwai Concession borders the northeastern corner of the Okavango Delta and is known for its authentic, community-based tourism, which supports local villages within the concession and creates employment opportunities for residents.
The rich diversity of wildlife and the breathtaking beauty of the Khwai River, which winds its way through the area, make Khwai a safari destination that should not be missed on any trip to Botswana.
Kalahari San Bushmen
The Kalahari San Bushmen are an ethnic minority who still live according to traditions from many decades ago and resist modernization and the conversion of their land into farmland. The San have an in-depth knowledge of the plants and animals of their Kalahari homeland and maintain their understanding of the medicinal uses of various plants. They demonstrate simple hunting techniques and, in times of water scarcity in the desert, know which plants have the most water-rich roots, helping them avoid dehydration even in temperatures of 40°C and above.
